Where Are They Wednesday – Tom Gimbel

Tom Gimbel Coffee With A Stranger Cup 22Every Wednesday we check in on a former “stranger” to see what they’ve been up to since they had Coffee With a Stranger. Today, let’s catch up with:

Coffee With A Stranger Cup 22: Tom Gimbel – Music lover, business man and experience seeker

What has Tom been up to since our first meeting, a little over a year ago? I decided to catch up with him and find out for myself.

He’s doing great, loving life and still digging his job as the General Manager for Austin City Limits.

I posed a few questions and here’s what Tom had to say:

What was the biggest surprise or aha that came from being a part of the Coffee With A Stranger project?

It was a nice surprise to be asked to participate in the Coffee With A Stranger project. The “aha” was that I would be comfortable enough to be open to revealing personal information to a “stranger!” Kudos to the interviewer for establishing rapport and asking the right questions. {Ahh, thanks Tom!}

What’s the biggest change in your life since we had our coffee?

I’ve had some new friends and influences enter my life…both personally and professionally. I believe that expanding your network of contacts, confidants, and critics is a big positive. A change of perspective, voice, and energy can be a very healthy thing.

Call it a resolution, call it a goal, call it mindfulness…is there something you are either trying to start doing, stop doing or are going to do differently this year?

I’m paying more attention to brain health and nutrition. I’ve been focused on physical health, exercise and nutrition for a long time. Learning about the nutrients that feed the brain and provide better energy and focus has been interesting and rewarding.

What are you most looking forward to over the next 12 months?

That’s easy…Austin City Limits’ 40th Anniversary season.  We have a lot of great stuff in the works and are swinging for the fences in booking talent for the show.  Anniversaries are good opportunities to reflect on the past and appreciate accomplishments. We’re taking the approach to celebrate past, present, and future. It’s an exciting time for everyone associated with the show.
