When I started the Coffee With A Stranger project in 2012, I had no idea how radically my life would be changed by the strangers I’d meet. Nor had I any clue how immensely rewarding the experience would be. In fact, had I known just how “HUGE” this project would become in my life, I would have been far too intimidated to ever begin. Naivety has it’s upsides.

I get so many questions every week from people who are curious about the project. One of the most frequent questions I answer, or at least attempt to answer, is “How has the project changed you?” or, “What have you learned?”

My answer often depends on what’s front of mind in that moment. I’ve certainly given the same answer more than once, but typically, I answer with whatever the most recent lesson was. The truth is, this project has taught me dozens of incredibly powerful life lessons. Many, I wasn’t prepared for.

Every week, in addition to introducing readers to my most recent “stranger”, I will also share a lesson from the project. I hope you will find it impactful. But more than anything, I hope it will encourage you to talk to strangers. Your life story is always improved with the addition of new characters.
